The patented coaxial system of the Welch Allyn 3.5 volt coaxial ophthalmoscope head, model 11720 provides the elements you’d expect from a Welch Allyn scope such as our long lasting, consistent, cool, bright white, Halogen light that ensures you observe true tissue color on every exam, with no reflections or obstructions, but that is just the beginning. With our coaxial optical system, the axis of illumination is now coincidental with the axis of vision into the retina, which eliminates the shadows that happen with standard optics and the polarizing filter nearly eliminates corneal reflection. You will now be able to perform productive examinations with nearly any sized pupil or vitreous disorder. Our twenty eight viewing lenses, ranging from -25 to +40 diopters can be accessed with our convenient one hand selection dial, helping to compensate for refractive error, positional changes in the ophthalmoscope or changes in viewing requirements. To make examinations easier, the lens dial is illuminated allowing the medical professional to see the lens being used during the exam even in a darkened room.
